Video metadata is usually hidden from the player
A video can look normal while still carrying metadata in its container. MP4, MOV, and M4V files may store title fields, creation times, modification times, encoder names, author fields, comments, software names, and other text payloads. These fields can come from the camera, phone, export settings, editing app, or conversion tool used before sharing.
For creators and teams, that context may reveal production tools, client timing, internal notes, or device details. For personal users, it can expose timestamps and workflow clues that are not needed after the clip becomes public.
Clean videos after final export
The best time to remove metadata is after the video is final. Export the finished clip, clean that export, play the cleaned version, and upload or send only the sanitized copy. Keep the source project and original export private if you need the full editing trail later.

Do not skip playback verification
